Experience Olli Mustonen live on January 17th
Olli Mustonen, a Finnish pianist, violinist, composer, and conductor, will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg on January 17, 2027. Mustonen’s musical style is characterized by a deeply individual approach to interpretation and performance, often blending elements of improvisation with classical repertoire. He is known for his explorations of both established composers – particularly Bach, Beethoven and Brahms – and his own compositions which frequently draw inspiration from early music and folk traditions. His playing is often described as intensely personal and intellectually rigorous.
The Elbphilharmonie itself opened in January 2017 after a decade of construction and significant cost overruns. Built atop an existing warehouse structure (the Kaispeicher A) in the HafenCity district, it has quickly become a landmark building and a major concert venue internationally renowned for its acoustics. Designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, the building features a distinctive glass facade constructed from 1,000 curved glass panels. The Great Hall, where Mustonen will perform, is designed as a “vineyard” style concert hall with seating arranged around the stage to create an intimate atmosphere despite its capacity of 2,100 seats.
