Moor Mother, the stage name of Camae Ayewa, is a Philadelphia-based musician, poet, and activist whose work blends experimental electronic music, spoken word, and elements of jazz, noise, and Black liberationist thought. Her performances and recordings frequently incorporate themes of Afrofuturism, ancestral memory, and societal critique. She often utilizes sampling and collage techniques to create dense, layered soundscapes alongside her powerful vocal delivery.
Komische Oper Berlin is a renowned opera house located in Berlin, Germany. Founded in 1947 by Walter Felsenstein in the Soviet sector of post-war Berlin, it quickly established itself as an alternative to the more traditional opera houses in the city. Felsenstein pioneered a “Verbrechensoper” (crime opera) style – a realistic and psychologically driven approach to staging operas that focused on social issues and everyday life.
Throughout its history, Komische Oper Berlin has been known for its innovative productions and commitment to accessibility. While primarily an opera company performing standard repertoire and commissioning new works, it has increasingly expanded its programming to include contemporary music theatre and interdisciplinary performances.
