silent green Kulturquartier is a unique cultural venue housed in a former crematorium in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Originally built between 1910-1911 by Julius Lenz, the site operated as a crematorium until 1985. Converted into a cultural space beginning in 2000, it officially opened in 2008. The venue retains much of its original architectural character, including the historical furnace hall which serves as its primary performance space. This history imbues performances with a distinct atmosphere and encourages artistic engagement with themes of memory, mortality, and transformation.
