María Dueñas will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Germany on February 24, 2027. Dueñas is a Spanish classical guitarist known for her interpretations of Romantic and contemporary repertoire, particularly focusing on the works of Isaac Albéniz and Francisco Tárrega. Her playing is characterized by technical precision, expressive phrasing, and a commitment to showcasing the nuances of Spanish guitar traditions. She frequently explores lesser-known compositions alongside established classics, bringing a fresh perspective to the instrument’s capabilities.

The Elbphilharmonie itself opened in January 2017 after a decade of construction and significant cost overruns. Built atop an existing warehouse structure – the Kaispeicher A – it has become a landmark architectural achievement and a major cultural venue for Hamburg. Its design, by Herzog & de Meuron, features a distinctive glass facade constructed from 1,000 curved glass panels.

The concert hall within, known as the Grand Hall, is renowned for its exceptional acoustics achieved through the “White Skin” interior design by Yasuhisa Toyota; this innovative system utilizes custom-made plasterboard panels to diffuse sound effectively.
