Long Yu will perform at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on July 3, 2027. Long Yu is a highly regarded Chinese conductor known for his interpretations of both classical and contemporary orchestral works, with a particular focus on promoting Chinese composers and integrating Chinese musical elements into Western orchestral traditions. His conducting style is often described as energetic and passionate, frequently incorporating a dramatic flair. He currently serves as Music Director of the China Philharmonic and has held prominent positions with several international orchestras.

The Hong Kong Cultural Centre, opened in 1990, is a major performing arts venue located on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront in Kowloon, Hong Kong. Designed by Vincent Ng and Jason Chiu, it features a complex of theatres including the Concert Hall – the anticipated venue for Long Yu’s performance – the Grand Theatre, and smaller spaces for more intimate performances. The centre was built as part of Hong Kong’s broader cultural infrastructure development and aims to provide a world-class platform for local and international artistic presentations. Its architectural design incorporates elements reflecting both modern aesthetics and traditional Chinese motifs. The venue regularly hosts classical music concerts, opera, ballet, theatre productions and other large-scale events.
