Long Yu will perform at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on June 24, 2027. Long Yu is a highly regarded Chinese conductor known for his interpretations of both classical Western repertoire and contemporary Chinese compositions. His style often emphasizes dramatic flair and a commitment to promoting Chinese musical talent internationally, frequently commissioning new works and championing living composers. He has served as Music Director of the China Philharmonic Orchestra and holds positions with several other prominent orchestras globally.
The Hong Kong Cultural Centre, opened in 1990, is a major performing arts venue located on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront in Kowloon, Hong Kong. Designed by Sir Norman Foster, the Centre features a variety of performance spaces including Concert Hall, Grand Theatre, Recital Hall and Studio Theatre. It was built as part of the larger West Kowloon Reclamation project and represents a significant investment in Hong Kong’s cultural infrastructure. The building’s design incorporates elements reflecting both modern architecture and traditional Chinese aesthetics. It regularly hosts international and local performances encompassing music, theatre, dance, and opera, serving as a key hub for artistic expression within the region.
