Long Yu will perform at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on January 25, 2027. Long Yu is a highly regarded conductor known for his passionate interpretations and advocacy for both classical repertoire and contemporary Chinese compositions. His conducting style frequently emphasizes dramatic expression and a broad dynamic range, often incorporating elements of Chinese musical traditions into orchestral performances. He has served as Music Director of the China Philharmonic Orchestra and holds several international conducting positions.

The Hong Kong Cultural Centre, opened in 1990, is a major performing arts venue located on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront. Designed by Rocco Design Architects, it features a distinctive architectural style incorporating granite and glass. The complex houses multiple performance spaces including the Concert Hall – where Long Yu will be performing – the Grand Theatre, and smaller studio theatres. It serves as a primary venue for a wide variety of performances including orchestral concerts, operas, ballet, theatre productions, and popular music events. The centre was built as part of Hong Kong’s commitment to fostering arts and culture within the region and remains a significant landmark in the city’s artistic landscape. It underwent renovations between 2008-2009 to upgrade facilities.
