Experience L'Arpeggiata live on May 11th

L'Arpeggiata, the ensemble led by lutenist and countertenor Philippe Jaroussky, will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg on May 11, 2027. The group is known for its historically informed performances of Baroque and Renaissance music, frequently incorporating improvisation and a vibrant, often theatrical, approach. Their repertoire extends beyond strictly classical interpretations, often blending influences from Mediterranean folk music – particularly Italian, Greek, and Turkish traditions – with established Baroque forms. L’Arpeggiata aims to present a dynamic and emotionally engaging experience of early music.

The Elbphilharmonie itself opened in January 2017 after a decade of construction and significant cost overruns. Built atop an existing warehouse structure (the Kaispeicher A) in Hamburg’s HafenCity district, it has quickly become a landmark architectural achievement. Designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, the building features a distinctive glass facade constructed from 1,000 curved glass panels.

The concert hall within is renowned for its exceptional acoustics, achieved through the “White Skin” interior design by Yasuhisa Toyota; a specially designed scattering surface that diffuses sound evenly throughout the space.
