Experience Kirill Gerstein live on January 6th
Kirill Gerstein is a Russian-American pianist renowned for his intellectually probing and technically brilliant performances. His repertoire is exceptionally broad, encompassing works from the core classical and romantic periods alongside a significant focus on 20th and 21st-century composers, including Ligeti, Messiaen, and contemporary figures. He’s particularly noted for his interpretations of Rachmaninoff and Scriabin, often praised for their clarity and depth. Gerstein frequently incorporates improvisation into his concerts, reflecting a deep engagement with the music’s structure and possibilities.
The concert will take place at the Rudolfinum in Prague, Czechia. Completed in 1884, the Rudolfinum originally served as a trade fair palace but quickly became a significant cultural center. Its Dvořák Hall, the primary concert venue within the building, is celebrated for its exceptional acoustics and ornate neo-Renaissance architecture. Antonín Dvořák himself oversaw the hall's acoustic design during its initial construction.
Throughout its history, the Rudolfinum has hosted performances by leading international orchestras and soloists; it remains a central location for the Prague Spring International Music Festival and serves as a prominent symbol of Czech musical heritage.
