The Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) opened in 1994 following the renovation of the historic Loew's Palace Theatre, originally built in 1937. The theatre was designed by William H. McElfatrick and Kreuter Studios, known for their opulent Art Deco designs. Throughout its history, the Loew’s Palace hosted vaudeville acts and film screenings before falling into disrepair. The restoration project aimed to revive the theatre as a performing arts venue for a diverse range of events including concerts, Broadway shows, comedy performances, and dance recitals.
