Samara Joy is a contemporary jazz vocalist gaining recognition for her interpretations of classic jazz standards and original compositions. The State Theatre New Jersey, located in New Brunswick, originally opened as the Orpheum Theatre in 1921. It was designed by Thomas W. Lamb, a prominent theatre architect of the era, and initially served as a venue for vaudeville acts. Renamed the State Theatre in 1928, it underwent significant restoration in the 1980s which preserved its ornate architectural details including its elaborate plasterwork and atmospheric lighting. The theatre is listed on both the New Jersey and National Registers of Historic Places.
