Herbie Hancock will perform at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark, New Jersey on July 31, 2026. Hancock is a highly influential pianist, composer, and bandleader whose music spans multiple genres. Initially gaining recognition for his work with Miles Davis in the 1960s, he developed a distinctive style incorporating elements of hard bop, modal jazz, and post-bop. Throughout his career, Hancock has been a pioneer in electronic music, particularly funk and jazz fusion, notably with his album *Head Hunters* (1973). The New Jersey Performing Arts Center opened in 1997 as part of Newark’s revitalization efforts. Designed by architect Philip Johnson, it is the largest performing arts center in New Jersey.
