The building underwent extensive renovation to transform it into a performance space while retaining its original architectural features. It is renowned for its excellent acoustics and hosts a diverse range of events including classical music concerts, jazz performances, traditional Scottish music, comedy shows and talks. The hall’s capacity is approximately 900 seated and 1300 standing. It plays a key role in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe each August and throughout the year supports both established and emerging artists.
