Hugh Cutting, a British composer and sound artist known for his work exploring the intersection of acoustic instruments, electronics, and spatial audio, will perform at the Rudolfinum in Prague on January 19, 2027. Cutting’s compositions often involve extended instrumental techniques, microtonality, and immersive sound environments, frequently drawing inspiration from natural phenomena and architectural spaces. His pieces are characterized by a delicate balance between precise structure and emergent improvisation.

The Rudolfinum serves as one of Prague’s premier cultural institutions. Originally constructed between 1879 and 1884 as the Czech National Museum’s new building—though never ultimately fulfilling that function—it quickly became a central venue for artistic and social life. Designed by architects Josef Schulz and Anton Hrubý in the Neo-Renaissance style, its Dvořák Hall is renowned for its exceptional acoustics and has hosted performances by significant musical figures throughout history.
