Experience Gstaad Festival Orchestra live on September 30th
The Gstaad Festival Orchestra, renowned for its interpretations of Central European Romantic and early 20th-century repertoire, will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg on September 30, 2026. The orchestra, established in 1948 by Yehudi Menuhin, maintains a distinctive chamber orchestra sound characterized by flexibility and a focus on individual instrumental color. It regularly features leading soloists and is known for its annual summer festival in Gstaad, Switzerland.
The Elbphilharmonie itself opened in January 2017, quickly becoming a landmark architectural and cultural venue. Constructed atop a historic warehouse – the Kaispeicher A – it blends modern glass construction with the brick base, creating a visually striking presence on Hamburg’s HafenCity. Its Grand Hall is celebrated for its exceptional acoustics, designed by Yasuhisa Toyota, prioritizing both reverberation and clarity. The hall’s “White Skin” interior utilizes gypsum fiber panels to diffuse sound evenly throughout the space.
Beyond its primary concert hall, the Elbphilharmonie also houses a smaller Recital Hall, hotel accommodations, and public viewing platforms offering panoramic city views.
