Fruit Bats will be performing at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, British Columbia on October 11, 2026. Fruit Bats, the musical project of Eric Johnson, creates indie rock characterized by intricate arrangements, melodic songwriting, and a blend of folk, country, and psychedelic influences. Initially a solo endeavor, the project evolved to incorporate a full band, releasing albums such as *Mouthfuls* (2005) and *Gold Past Life* (2023). Their sound often features layered instrumentation including horns and keyboards alongside traditional rock elements.

The Commodore Ballroom itself holds a significant place in Vancouver’s cultural history. Opened in 1929 as a ballroom and dance hall during the big band era, it quickly became a prominent entertainment venue. Throughout its history, it has hosted performances by numerous renowned artists across diverse genres including Duke Ellington, The Rolling Stones, and David Bowie. The venue is known for its sprung dance floor—originally designed to protect dancers' legs—and its relatively intimate capacity of approximately 1,000 people which contributes to its reputation for providing close-up concert experiences.
