Experience Ensemble Resonanz live on February 2nd
Ensemble Resonanz is a Hamburg-based chamber orchestra known for its innovative and genre-bending approach to music-making. Frequently commissioning new works and exploring unconventional concert formats, the ensemble blends historical performance practice with contemporary sounds, often incorporating improvisation and multimedia elements into their performances. Their repertoire spans from Baroque to modern compositions, with a particular focus on works that encourage dialogue between different artistic disciplines.
The concert will take place at the Elbphilharmonie, Hamburg’s iconic concert hall. Opened in January 2017 after a decade of construction and significant cost overruns, the Elbphilharmonie is built atop an old warehouse (Kaispeicher A) in the HafenCity district. Designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, its striking glass facade and wave-like roof have quickly made it a landmark building. The hall’s acoustics were designed by Yasuhisa Toyota, aiming for a “white canvas” sound allowing for natural amplification and clarity. It houses the Grand Hall (Elbphilharmonie Hall) seating 2,100 people, as well as a smaller Recital Hall and public plaza offering panoramic views of the city and port.
