Ensemble Resonanz is a Hamburg-based chamber orchestra renowned for its innovative approach to classical music, frequently blending historical performance practice with contemporary compositions and improvisation. The ensemble actively commissions new works and often explores interdisciplinary collaborations, moving beyond traditional concert formats. Their performances emphasize a direct and intimate connection with the audience, often featuring musicians positioned amongst attendees.

The concert on September 15, 2026, will take place at the Elbphilharmonie, Hamburg’s iconic concert hall. Opened in January 2017 after a decade of construction and significant cost overruns, the Elbphilharmonie is built atop an existing warehouse (Kaispeicher A) in the HafenCity district. Designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, its striking glass façade and wave-like roof have become a symbol of the city.

The hall’s centerpiece is the Grand Hall, known for its exceptional acoustics achieved through a vineyard-style seating arrangement surrounding the stage and a “white skin” of gypsum fiber panels within the hall. This design, created by Yasuhisa Toyota, diffuses sound evenly throughout the space.
