Élisabeth Pion, a French composer and pianist, will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg on November 16, 2026. Her musical style is characterized by a blend of contemporary classical music with influences from jazz and improvisation. Pion’s compositions often explore themes of memory, nature, and emotional landscapes, frequently incorporating extended piano techniques and subtle electronic elements. She is known for her evocative sound worlds and a delicate balance between structure and spontaneity in her performances.

The Elbphilharmonie itself opened in January 2017 after a decade of construction and significant cost overruns. Built atop the historic Kaispeicher A warehouse in the HafenCity district, it has quickly become a landmark of Hamburg and an internationally renowned concert hall. Designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, its distinctive glass façade is composed of 1,000 individually curved glass panels.

The building houses the Grand Hall (Großer Saal), renowned for its exceptional acoustics designed by Yasuhisa Toyota, as well as the smaller Recital Hall (Kleiner Saal) and a public plaza offering panoramic views of the city and harbor.
