Double Sens, a French vocal ensemble, will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Germany on April 28, 2027. The group is recognized for its innovative approach to a cappella music, blending jazz harmonies, contemporary classical techniques, and influences from world music traditions. Their performances frequently feature intricate vocal arrangements, percussive vocalizations, and explorations of timbre and texture without instrumental accompaniment. Double Sens formed in 2011 and has since gained international acclaim for their unique sound and dynamic stage presence.
The Elbphilharmonie itself opened in January 2017 and is a landmark concert hall situated in Hamburg’s HafenCity district. Constructed atop an existing warehouse (“Kaispeicher A”), the building’s distinctive glass structure was designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron. It houses a Grand Hall with seating for 2,100 people, renowned for its exceptional acoustics achieved through the work of Yasuhisa Toyota. Beyond the Grand Hall, the Elbphilharmonie includes a smaller Recital Hall, educational facilities, restaurants and a public plaza accessible to all visitors offering panoramic views of the city and port.
