Die Drahtzieher, a German band known for their distinctive blend of medieval, Renaissance, and contemporary influences, will perform at Château de Fontainebleau on June 25, 2026. Their music incorporates historical instruments like bagpipes, hurdy-gurdy, and various percussion instruments alongside modern elements, creating a sound often described as “medieval rock” or “folk-rock.” The group is recognized for energetic live performances and historically-inspired stage presentation.

Château de Fontainebleau holds significant historical importance as a French royal residence for over eight centuries. Originally a hunting lodge in the 12th century, it was continuously inhabited and expanded by French monarchs from Louis VII to Napoleon III. This long period of occupation resulted in a unique architectural synthesis reflecting styles from the medieval period through to the 19th century – encompassing Gothic, Renaissance, Louis XIII, Louis XV and Empire influences.

The château served as a crucial political center; many key historical events unfolded within its walls including the signing of the Edict of Nantes in 1598 by Henry IV.
