Émile Parisien is a French clarinetist recognized for his innovative approach to jazz, often blending traditional jazz harmonic structures with elements of contemporary improvised music and influences from classical music. His playing is characterized by a lyrical quality alongside virtuosic technique and a notable exploration of timbre. He frequently collaborates in diverse ensembles, demonstrating versatility across various jazz subgenres.
The Philharmonie de Paris, inaugurated in January 2015, is a major concert hall complex located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. Designed by Jean Nouvel, the complex comprises a Grande Salle featuring adjustable acoustics to suit different musical genres – notably symphonic repertoire, but also capable of accommodating amplified performances. It also includes smaller concert spaces: the Salle de Découverte, dedicated to educational programs and emerging artists; and the Studio, intended for experimental and contemporary music.
The building’s design incorporates significant architectural features including a metallic cloud-like structure above the Grande Salle designed to modify sound reflection. The Philharmonie de Paris serves as a central hub for musical activity in France, hosting a wide range of orchestras, soloists, and ensembles both domestic and international. It aims to be accessible to diverse audiences through its programming and outreach initiatives.
