Experience GoGo Penguin live on August 30th
GoGo Penguin is a British instrumental trio known for their distinctive acoustic sound, often described as a blend of jazz, electronica, and minimalist classical music. The group—comprising Chris Illingworth on piano, Nick Blacka on double bass, and Rob Turner on drums—creates complex rhythmic structures and atmospheric textures primarily through composed material, eschewing improvisation as a central element of their performances. Their music frequently utilizes looping and effects pedals to expand the sonic possibilities of their instruments.
The Philharmonie de Paris, opening in 2015, is a major concert venue located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, it is part of a larger park complex dedicated to musical arts. The complex comprises two main halls: the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez, known for its adjustable acoustics and seating capacity of approximately 2,400; and the smaller Salle de Découvertes, intended for smaller ensembles and educational programs.
The Philharmonie de Paris aims to be a comprehensive center for musical exploration encompassing performance spaces, rehearsal rooms, educational facilities, and a museum dedicated to musical instruments ("Musée de la Musique").
