Experience Czech Philharmonic live on April 14th
The Czech Philharmonic will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Germany on April 14, 2027. The orchestra is renowned for its distinctive sound, often characterized by a rich string tone and a historically informed approach to interpreting both Czech and international repertoire. Established in 1891, the ensemble has a strong tradition of performing works by Czech composers such as Bedřich Smetana, Antonín Dvořák, and Leoš Janáček, while also maintaining a broad repertoire encompassing classical and contemporary pieces.
The Elbphilharmonie itself is a concert hall situated in the HafenCity district of Hamburg. Completed in 2017 after a decade of construction and significant cost overruns, it stands atop an older warehouse building, the Kaispeicher A. Designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, the building’s striking glass facade and wave-like roof have made it an iconic landmark.
Internally, the Grand Hall – where the Czech Philharmonic will perform – is notable for its “vineyard” terraced seating arrangement designed by Yasuhisa Toyota, intended to create a closer connection between audience and performers.
