Classical Concerts in Hamburg

Experience Boston Symphony Orchestra live on March 17th

The Boston Symphony Orchestra is scheduled to perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Germany on March 17, 2027. The Boston Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1881, is internationally renowned for its distinctive sound – often characterized by a rich, warm string tone and a powerful brass section. Historically, the orchestra has been a champion of American composers while maintaining a broad repertoire encompassing classical and romantic standards as well as contemporary works. It holds a long tradition of critically acclaimed recordings and tours.

The Elbphilharmonie, inaugurated in January 2017, is a concert hall situated in the HafenCity district of Hamburg. Built atop an older warehouse structure known as the Kaispeicher A, its design by Herzog & de Meuron incorporates glass façade construction creating a wave-like appearance. The building’s acoustics were designed by Yasuhisa Toyota, aiming for both clarity and warmth. The Grand Hall within the Elbphilharmonie is particularly noted for its “vineyard” terracing of seats surrounding the stage—a design intended to create a closer connection between performers and audience members—and its use of variable acoustics allowing adaptation to different musical genres.
