Classical Concerts in Hamburg

Experience Boston Symphony Orchestra live on March 15th

The Boston Symphony Orchestra is scheduled to perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Germany on March 15, 2027. The Boston Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1881, is internationally renowned for its distinctive sound – often characterized by a rich, warm string tone and powerful brass. Throughout its history, the orchestra has been associated with prominent conductors including Arthur Fiedler, Serge Koussevitzky, and Leonard Bernstein, and has a strong tradition of commissioning new works alongside performing established repertoire.

The Elbphilharmonie itself opened in January 2017 and quickly became a landmark architectural achievement. Built atop an existing warehouse (the Kaispeicher A) in the HafenCity district, it features a striking glass structure designed by Herzog & de Meuron. Its acoustics were meticulously engineered by Yasuhisa Toyota, aiming for a natural and immersive sound experience for both performers and audience members. The Great Hall seats 2,100 people and is surrounded by a public plaza offering panoramic views of the city and harbor. The building represents a significant cultural investment for Hamburg and hosts a diverse range of musical performances beyond orchestral concerts.
