Anouar Brahem will perform at Den Sorte Diamant, the Black Diamond, in Copenhagen on February 24, 2027. Brahem is a Tunisian oud player and composer renowned for blending Arabic classical music with elements of jazz and contemporary improvisation. His compositions often feature a contemplative and atmospheric quality, characterized by nuanced melodies and intricate rhythmic structures. Den Sorte Diamant is the modern extension to the Royal Danish Library, completed in 1999 and designed by architect Schmidt Hammer Lassen. The building’s striking exterior is clad in polished black granite, giving it its name – “The Black Diamond”. It serves as both a public library and a cultural center, housing significant collections of manuscripts, books, and other media. The concert hall within Den Sorte Diamant is known for its excellent acoustics and its capacity to host a diverse range of musical performances. The building’s architecture intentionally creates a dialogue between historical preservation – connecting to the older library buildings – and modern design, functioning as a landmark on Copenhagen’s waterfront.
