Wynton Marsalis will perform at the Lensic Performing Arts Centre in Santa Fe, New Mexico on March 1, 2027. Marsalis is a trumpeter, composer, and educator renowned for his mastery of both classical and jazz music. His work largely centers on the preservation and evolution of jazz, frequently exploring its American roots in blues and ragtime while incorporating elements of higher education and sophisticated harmonic structures. He has been a leading advocate for jazz as a significant American art form and has received numerous accolades including Pulitzer Prizes and Grammy Awards.

The Lensic Performing Arts Centre occupies a historically significant building originally constructed in 1931 as a movie palace. Designed in the Pueblo Deco style by architect George Sutton, it showcased films until the 1980s. Facing potential demolition, a community-led effort successfully saved the building and transformed it into a multi-disciplinary performing arts venue. Renovations completed in 2001 restored many of its original architectural details while updating its technical capabilities to accommodate a wide range of performances including music, dance, theatre, and film screenings. The venue is recognized for its intimate atmosphere and excellent acoustics.
