The Lensic Performing Arts Centre itself holds a significant place in Santa Fe’s cultural landscape. Originally constructed in 1931 as a movie palace designed by architect George E. Phillips, it operated as a cinema for several decades. Facing potential demolition in the 1990s, a community-led effort successfully restored and repurposed the building as a multi-disciplinary performing arts venue.
