São Luiz Teatro Municipal occupies a historically significant building in Lisbon’s city centre. Originally constructed in the 19th century as the Teatro de São Luiz – a popular venue for vaudeville and operetta – it underwent substantial renovations throughout its history. In the late 20th century, it fell into disrepair before being comprehensively restored and reopened in 2018 as a multidisciplinary arts space managed by the Câmara Municipal de Lisboa (Lisbon City Council).
