Venice Baroque Orchestra will perform at The Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh on August 14, 2026. The ensemble is internationally renowned for its historically informed performances of 17th and 18th-century music. Their style focuses on recreating the sound world of the Venetian Baroque – a vibrant and ornamented approach characterized by expressive phrasing, dynamic contrasts, and a meticulous adherence to period performance practices. The orchestra typically performs works by composers such as Vivaldi, Corelli, and Fasch, utilizing original instruments or faithful reproductions.
The Queen’s Hall opened in 1979, constructed within a former Victorian Free Church building on Clerk Street. Its design successfully integrates the original church structure with modern concert hall acoustics. Originally conceived to address a lack of suitable performance spaces in Edinburgh, it quickly became a central venue for classical music, jazz, folk, and other genres. The hall is known for its excellent natural acoustics and intimate atmosphere—holding approximately 900 seats—making it popular with performers and audiences alike. It has hosted numerous prominent musicians throughout its history and continues to be a significant cultural hub for the city.
