Vasily Petrenko is a Russian-Austrian conductor internationally recognized for his interpretations of Russian composers, particularly Shostakovich, Prokofiev, and Rachmaninoff. His conducting style is often described as deeply insightful, characterized by meticulous attention to orchestral detail and a focus on emotional depth. He currently serves as Music Director of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Liverpool and holds positions with the Czech Philharmonic and the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.

The concert on March 12, 2027, will be held at the Kulturpalast Dresden. Originally built in 1964, the Kulturpalast was a significant cultural center in East Germany, serving as a major venue for political rallies and concerts during the GDR era. Following German reunification, it underwent extensive renovation between 2013 and 2017. The redesigned building now houses the Semperoper’s concert hall – the Philharmonie Dresden – alongside exhibition spaces and conference facilities. The Philharmonie Dresden is renowned for its exceptional acoustics and modern design, accommodating orchestral performances of all scales.
