Seong-Jin Cho will perform a solo recital at the Semperoper in Dresden, Germany on June 15, 2027. Cho is a South Korean classical pianist recognized for his poetic and nuanced interpretations, often characterized by a refined touch, thoughtful phrasing, and a deeply expressive sound. He gained international acclaim after winning the First Prize at the 2015 International Chopin Piano Competition. His repertoire spans a wide range of composers, though he is particularly celebrated for his performances of Chopin.

The Semperoper, meaning “permanent opera” in German, holds significant cultural importance. Originally opened in 1841, it was designed by architect Gottfried Semper and quickly became one of Europe’s leading opera houses. The original building was destroyed by fire in 1945 during the bombing of Dresden in World War II. It was meticulously reconstructed and reopened in 1985, faithfully recreating Semper’s original design while incorporating modern theatrical technology.
