Dresdner Philharmonie is renowned for its historically informed performances of both standard repertoire and lesser-known works, encompassing a broad range spanning from Baroque to contemporary music. The orchestra possesses a distinctive sound characterized by clarity, precision, and a rich tonal palette, often noted for its interpretations of German Romantic composers like Wagner and Strauss, as well as works by Bruckner. It has a long tradition of commissioning new pieces and fostering collaborations with contemporary artists.

The concert on May 9th, 2027 will be held at the Kulturpalast Dresden. Originally opened in 1964, the Kulturpalast served as the central cultural venue of the German Democratic Republic (East Germany). It underwent extensive modernization and renovation between 2013 and 2017, retaining its iconic architectural features while incorporating state-of-the-art technology.

Today, the Kulturpalast functions as a multi-purpose venue hosting concerts – particularly those of the Dresdner Philharmonie who are its resident orchestra – as well as opera performances, congresses, and other large-scale events. The building’s main concert hall is celebrated for its excellent acoustics and elegant design.
