Tuba Skinny is scheduled to perform at the Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport, Massachusetts on September 1st, 2026. The ensemble is a New Orleans-based traditional jazz band known for its energetic and improvisational performances rooted in the early jazz, blues, and ragtime styles of the 1920s and 30s. They typically feature instrumentation including tuba, trombone, clarinet, banjo, trumpet, and vocals, often performing without amplification in a style reminiscent of street bands.

The Shalin Liu Performance Center opened in 2009 and is located on Bearskin Neck in Rockport. Designed by architect Chuck Ward, the center is renowned for its exceptional acoustics and stunning ocean views. It’s constructed primarily of wood, specifically spruce and Douglas fir, contributing significantly to its sound quality. The hall seats approximately 330 people and hosts a diverse range of performances including classical music, jazz, chamber music, and theatrical productions. The center aims to provide a year-round cultural resource for the Cape Ann community and beyond. It's named in honor of Shalin Liu, a local philanthropist who contributed significantly to its creation.
