Trio Wanderer, comprised of Jean-Frédéric Neuburger (piano), Raphaël Pidoux (violin), and Frédéric Lorenz (cello), is a French piano trio renowned for its interpretations of the core chamber music repertoire, particularly works by composers like Beethoven, Brahms, and Schubert. Their performances are characterized by a refined lyricism, technical precision, and a deep understanding of musical structure. The ensemble frequently explores lesser-known works alongside established masterpieces, demonstrating a commitment to both tradition and discovery. They have been performing together since 1987 and are highly regarded internationally for their cohesive sound and expressive playing.
The concert will take place at Église Saint-Matthieu in Colmar, France. This church, originally a collegiate church founded in the 13th century, underwent significant reconstruction in the late 19th century under the architect Jean-Baptiste Schacre. The neo-Gothic style reconstruction, completed in 1888, incorporated elements of the original foundations but largely presents a design typical of the period. Notably, the church features stained glass windows created by local Alsatian artists and houses an important organ built by Joseph Rinckel.
