On September 3, 2026, Malmö Live Konserthus will host a concert dedicated to the works of Japanese composer Tohru Takemitsu. Takemitsu (1930-1999) is renowned for his unique synthesis of Western contemporary music techniques with traditional Japanese aesthetics. His compositions often explore textures and timbres, employing extended instrumental techniques and a sensitive use of silence. He frequently incorporated elements of gagaku (traditional Japanese court music) and Noh theatre into his orchestral and chamber works, creating a distinctive sound world characterized by sparseness, nuance, and a contemplative quality.

Malmö Live Konserthus, inaugurated in 2015, is a modern concert hall and hotel complex situated in the heart of Malmö, Sweden.
