DR SymfoniOrkestret (the Danish National Symphony Orchestra) is renowned for its broad repertoire spanning classical and contemporary works, with a particular emphasis on Danish composers alongside established international figures. The orchestra maintains a tradition of both faithful interpretations of core orchestral pieces and commissioning/performing new music. It has a long history, originating in 1925 as the radio symphony orchestra, evolving to become Denmark’s national orchestra.

The performance on May 14th, 2027 will take place at DR Koncerthuset (the Danish Broadcasting Corporation Concert Hall) in Copenhagen. Opened in 2009, DR Koncerthuset was designed by Jean Nouvel and is celebrated for its distinctive blue-grey exterior and exceptional acoustics. The building comprises four halls: the Concert Hall (the main venue), Studio 2, Chamber Hall, and Workshop. Its construction was intended to provide Denmark with a world-class concert facility capable of accommodating large orchestral performances as well as smaller, more intimate events. The Concert Hall features adjustable acoustics allowing it to be tailored to different musical genres.
