Søndergård is a Danish conductor known for his interpretations of Nordic composers, particularly Sibelius, as well as standard repertoire with a focus on clarity and emotional depth. He currently serves as the Chief Conductor of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and holds previous positions with orchestras including the Minnesota Orchestra and Sinfonia Lahti.
Glasgow Royal Concert Hall opened in 1990 and quickly became a central venue for musical performance in Scotland. Designed by architects RMJM, it’s notable for its acoustic excellence, specifically within the New Auditorium (the main hall) which was designed in collaboration with acoustics consultant Robin Denny. The hall hosts a diverse range of performances including classical music, jazz, contemporary music and large-scale popular concerts. It's home to the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and regularly welcomes internationally renowned orchestras and soloists. The building also incorporates the smaller Recital Hall and several other flexible spaces for events.
