Søndergård is a Danish conductor known for his clear interpretations, meticulous attention to detail, and a repertoire spanning from the standard classical and romantic works to contemporary compositions. Glasgow Royal Concert Hall opened in 1999 and quickly became a landmark venue in the city’s cultural landscape. Designed by architects Austin-Smith:Lord, it is renowned for its exceptional acoustics, particularly within the main auditorium, The New Auditorium, which was specifically engineered for optimal sound projection. The hall hosts a wide range of performances including classical music concerts, jazz, contemporary music events and also features smaller performance spaces. It replaced the former City Hall Concert Hall as Glasgow's primary concert venue and has become home to the Royal Scottish National Orchestra during their Glasgow season. The building incorporates Scottish materials like Glencoe granite and Caithness flagstone in its construction.
