The Hallé, a renowned British symphony orchestra with a history stretching back to 1858, will perform at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on May 27, 2027. The orchestra’s repertoire is broad, encompassing standard orchestral works from the classical and romantic periods, alongside a commitment to contemporary compositions and lesser-known pieces. Historically, The Hallé has been associated with composers such as Elgar and Vaughan Williams, and maintains a strong tradition of commissioning new works.
Bridgewater Hall, opened in 1996, is Manchester’s international concert hall and home to The Hallé, the BBC Philharmonic, and Manchester Camerata. Designed by Renton Howard Wood Levin architects, its acoustics were meticulously crafted by Harris & Associates. The hall was built as part of the city's regeneration following the 1996 IRA bombing and quickly became a landmark building. It is noted for its vineyard-style seating arrangement which places the audience closer to the performers, enhancing the immersive experience. The hall’s design incorporates natural light and materials reflecting the industrial heritage of Manchester. It holds approximately 2,345 seats and is equipped with a large concert organ built by Rieger-Kloss.
