The Hallé, a renowned British symphony orchestra with a history stretching back to 1858, will perform at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on May 5th, 2027. The orchestra’s repertoire is broad, encompassing standard orchestral works from the classical and romantic periods alongside contemporary compositions and a particular strength in performing the works of Elgar and Mahler. Throughout its existence, The Hallé has maintained a commitment to both traditional concert hall performances and community engagement.

Bridgewater Hall, opened in 1996, is Manchester’s international concert venue and home to The Hallé, the BBC Philharmonic and Manchester Camerata. Designed by architects Renton, Eastwood and Partners, its acoustics were meticulously crafted by acoustician Rob Harris. The hall replaced the Free Trade Hall as the city’s primary concert space; the Free Trade Hall had served that purpose for over a century but was deemed unsuitable for modern orchestral requirements.

Bridgewater Hall's design incorporates a vineyard-style layout intended to bring the audience closer to the performers. Its construction involved significant civic investment and is considered a landmark building within Manchester’s cultural landscape.
