Opened in 1996, Bridgewater Hall was specifically designed as a concert venue to address Manchester’s lack of a suitable large-scale performance space. Its acoustics were meticulously planned with input from Russell Johnson and Harris & Associates, aiming for both clarity and warmth. The hall's design incorporates a vineyard style seating arrangement – wrapping around the stage – to bring the audience closer to the performers.

Bridgewater Hall quickly became a landmark building for the city and is considered one of the finest concert halls in the United Kingdom. It regularly hosts international orchestras and soloists in addition to being the primary home of The Hallé.
