Experience The Hallé live on February 18th
The Hallé, a renowned British symphony orchestra with a history dating back to 1848, will perform at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on February 18, 2027. The orchestra is celebrated for its broad repertoire, encompassing classical works from the core orchestral canon alongside contemporary compositions and a strong commitment to showcasing British composers. Historically, The Hallé has been associated with conductors such as Sir Charles Hallé (its founder), Sir Hamilton Harty, and Sir John Barbirolli, each leaving a distinct mark on the orchestra’s sound and approach.
Bridgewater Hall, opened in 1996, is Manchester’s international concert hall and home to The Hallé, the BBC Philharmonic and Manchester Camerata. Designed by Renton Eggleston Prince, the hall is specifically engineered for acoustic excellence; its vineyard-style seating arrangement ensures proximity to the performers for all audience members. The hall's construction involved significant public and private funding aiming to provide a world-class performance space for the city. It replaced the Free Trade Hall as the primary concert venue in Manchester, addressing limitations in that previous location’s acoustics and capacity.
