Bridgewater Hall, which opened in September 1996, is Manchester’s international concert hall and home to the Hallé, the BBC Philharmonic, and Manchester Camerata. Designed by Renton, Eggert & Cole Associates with acoustic consultancy from Nagata Acoustics, the hall was specifically built to address Manchester’s lack of a dedicated large-scale concert venue with optimal sound quality. Its design prioritises acoustics; the auditorium's shape and materials were carefully selected to enhance clarity and resonance. The hall features a vineyard-style seating arrangement intended to bring the audience closer to the performers and improve sightlines. It is recognised as one of the finest concert halls in the United Kingdom.
