The Hallé orchestra will perform at Bridgewater Hall, Manchester on January 9th, 2027. The Hallé is a British symphony orchestra, widely recognised for its historically rooted Romantic repertoire, though its programming extends to encompass 20th and 21st-century works alongside Baroque and Classical pieces. Founded in 1848 by Charles Hallé, the orchestra has a long tradition of championing British composers and performing internationally.

Bridgewater Hall, opened in 1996, is Manchester’s international concert hall and home to the Hallé, the BBC Philharmonic and Manchester Camerata. Designed by architects Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers, it was built to address Manchester’s lack of a suitable large-scale concert venue. The hall is renowned for its acoustics, achieved through a ‘shoebox’ design combined with adjustable elements allowing optimization for different ensemble sizes.

Construction involved significant remediation of the former railway warehouse site upon which it stands. The hall incorporates extensive use of natural light and features a distinctive glass facade. It regularly hosts a diverse range of musical performances including orchestral concerts, chamber music recitals and contemporary music events, as well as non-musical presentations.
