Classical Concerts in Manchester

Experience The Hallé live on December 19th

The Hallé, a British symphony orchestra with a distinguished history dating back to 1848, will perform at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on December 19th, 2026. The orchestra is renowned for its broad repertoire encompassing classical standards alongside contemporary works, and has a particular association with the music of Elgar and Vaughan Williams. Throughout its existence, The Hallé has maintained a commitment to both established masterpieces and fostering new talent.

Bridgewater Hall, opened in 1996, is Manchester’s international concert hall and home to The Hallé, the BBC Philharmonic and Manchester Camerata. Designed by Renton, Eastwood & Partners, its acoustics were meticulously crafted by Harris & Associates, aiming for a natural reverberation suitable for orchestral performances. The hall replaced the Free Trade Hall as the city’s primary concert venue; the Free Trade Hall had served as a significant musical space for over a century but was deemed inadequate for modern orchestral requirements. Bridgewater Hall’s construction involved extensive public and private funding reflecting its importance as a cultural landmark for the North West of England. The hall features a main auditorium seating approximately 2,345 people and smaller spaces used for recitals and events.
