Experience The Hallé live on October 29th
The Hallé, a renowned British symphony orchestra with a history dating back to 1848, will perform at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on October 29, 2026. The orchestra is celebrated for its broad repertoire, encompassing classical works from the core orchestral canon alongside contemporary compositions and a commitment to showcasing British composers. Historically, The Hallé has been associated with conductors such as Charles Hallé (its founder), Sir Hamilton Harty, and Sir John Barbirolli, each leaving a distinct mark on the orchestra’s sound.
Bridgewater Hall, opened in 1996, is Manchester’s international concert venue and home to The Hallé, the BBC Philharmonic and Manchester Camerata. Designed by Renton, Eastwood and Williams Architects, it was specifically engineered for exceptional acoustics. The hall's vineyard-style seating arrangement – where the audience surrounds the orchestra – contributes significantly to this acoustic quality. It replaced the Free Trade Hall as the city’s primary concert space; the Free Trade Hall having served as a significant musical venue for over a century prior. The building also incorporates significant artwork including murals by Liam Gillick and sculptures by Eduardo Paolozzi.
