The Bad Plus will perform at Usher Hall in Edinburgh, United Kingdom on July 20, 2026. The Bad Plus is a jazz trio known for its unconventional approach to the genre, blending elements of jazz improvisation with influences from rock, pop, and classical music. Formed in Minneapolis in 2000, the group gained recognition for their deconstructed interpretations of popular songs alongside original compositions. Their instrumentation consists of piano, double bass, and drums, often featuring complex arrangements and dynamic interplay.
Usher Hall is a prominent concert venue in Edinburgh, Scotland. Opened in 1914, it was a gift to the city from Andrew Usher, a prominent Edinburgh brewer. Designed by Robert Rowand Anderson – though completed after his death by his colleague James Dunn – the hall is celebrated for its exceptional acoustics and ornate Edwardian architecture. It has hosted a diverse range of performances throughout its history including classical music concerts, orchestral performances, choral works, and contemporary music acts. The hall underwent a significant refurbishment completed in 2009 which enhanced both audience facilities and technical capabilities while preserving its original character. It is currently managed by the City of Edinburgh Council.
