Experience The Count Basie Orchestra live on December 4th

The Count Basie Orchestra will perform at The Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh, United Kingdom on December 4th, 2026. The orchestra carries on the legacy of William “Count” Basie, renowned for a signature big band sound rooted in swinging jazz, blues, and refined arrangements. Characterized by its driving rhythm section, call-and-response phrasing between sections, and emphasis on improvisation within a structured framework, the orchestra’s music became synonymous with the golden age of American swing. Following Basie’s death in 1984, the orchestra continued under the direction of several notable musicians, maintaining its distinctive style and touring internationally.

The Queen’s Hall opened in 1979 following a public campaign to restore a former Free Church building. Designed by architect James Gillespie Graham in the 1820s, the building underwent extensive renovation to become a dedicated performance space. It is now recognised as one of Edinburgh’s premier concert venues known for its excellent acoustics and versatile capacity. The hall hosts a diverse range of performances including classical music, jazz, folk, contemporary and world music events alongside talks and conferences.
